I agree with you that social isolation and loneliness is a common health concern among older adults. Older adults are retired from work. As a result, aged population are left at home as other active members of the families are involved in their obligations. Unfortunately, these older adults are left alone with no body to talk to or confine to in case of a problem (Donovan & Blazer, 2020).  As a result, social isolation and loneliness among these older adults has exposed them to mental breakdown and depression. Poor eating habits and inability to observe balanced diet among older adults have also exposed them to nutritional complications (Noone et al., 2020). Most of these populations live alone or in retirement homes and can be heard voicing feelings of abandonment, and rejection from their loved ones who do not visit or take them out. The retirement homes as alternative have not yet assured older adults their emotional and psychological safety away from their families.
