I agree with you that healthcare cost are continuously on the rise from a global standpoint. The increasing demand of healthcare services have resulted to increased healthcare costs. Besides, the growing aging population require frequent medical attention. American households and the government use significant budget taking care of vulnerable groups (de Boer et al., 2020). The government through government-sponsored healthcare initiatives such as Medicaid and Medicare has increased access to healthcare services. Healthcare stakeholders have been involved in cost management activities amidst high demand of healthcare. However, these stakeholders have encountered barriers. Common barriers to cost management include disapproval of doing nothing, lack of feedback, time pressure, discomfort with diagnostic uncertainty, and ease of access to service (Benedict et al., 2019). The role of a DNP prepared nurse in managing cost include improving communication with patients and other stakeholders about necessity of test.  Healthcare organizations rely on healthcare professionals in effective cost management. DNP-prepared nurses are competent in facilitating cost management.
